What used cooking oil is
The material itself — where it starts, what changes it, and why it still has value.
Used cooking oil is fresh frying oil that has been through service. Heat, water, salt, batter and food particles break the oil down over hundreds of cook cycles, raising free fatty acids and darkening the color until the oil no longer fries well. At that point it is still a valuable commodity — it just belongs in a sealed collection container instead of a fryer.
Most kitchens produce it in predictable weekly volume, which is why scheduled collection works so well. We size containers to that volume so oil never overflows, never gets poured down a drain and never becomes a slip hazard on the cook line.
How used cooking oil is used

- Before service: deep frying, par-frying and batch frying in open and pressure fryers
- In production: continuous fryers for chips, tortillas, snacks and breaded proteins
- After collection: cleaned and processed into renewable diesel, biodiesel and industrial feedstock
- Secondary markets: animal feed fat and oleochemical products where the load qualifies
